Creating jobs in the gig economy for women and girls
Session Format: Panel Discussion.
Women and girls the most marginalized group in real time in society and digitally with a digital gender gap only growing larger in Africa. With the rise of the creator economy in a COVID-19 world, this session will explore how women and girls are creating employment for themselves and others through content creation such as Elsa Majimbo from Kenya and Malaji from Nigeria. The objectives of this session is to highlight case studies across the continent and how investments in the digital infrastructure and low tariffs can boost youth unemployment, contribute to lowering crime rate and the sustainability development goals.
