Leku Sylvie Nakou, is a dynamic Motivational Speaker, a Disability Rights Advocate and fierce Feminist. She is a Gender Activist, Humanitarian, and Peacebuilder. Working on the frontline, Leku has a proven record of developing sustainable programs, projects and coordinating and facilitating the implementation of community development programs, forums, focus group discussions, outreaches and projects on topics addressing gender equality, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), COVID-19 Pandemic, women and youth participation in peacebuilding, fighting inequality, protection of human rights, cultural and advocacy at both national and international spheres. As a social entrepreneur and an agripreneur, Leku works to reduce poverty through economic empowerment. She currently facilitates capacity building trainings, women and youth empowerment trainings and projects, community and rural development outreach programs. Her work has increased impact substantially and has impacted over 5,000 youth, 3000 women.
Leku is part of the Country(Cameroon) Coordinator team of the SDG Corps, a member of the Commonwealth Children and Youth Disability Network, a Global Youth Ambassador 2018, a Global Peace Ambassador 2019, a member of African Women in Leadership Organisation, a Literacy Ambassador 2020, a Communication/Advocacy staff at Denis Miki Foundation, a Humanitarian(protection specialist)/Gender officer at Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, a Gender/Sexuality Health Education facilitator at Women for a Change Cameroon. Leku holds a Bachelor in Arts degree in English and French from the University of Buea.
