Joan Nabusoba is the co-founder and director of professional development at Pwani Teknowgalz, where she is dedicated to empowering and training young women to
pursue careers in technology. She’s also a software developer who works on web and
mobile apps. CodeHack is one of the projects she has led at Pwani Teknowgalz. The CodeHack initiative teaches young women web and mobile app development skills, and then have them develop mobile app solutions that focus on SDGs that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 300 women have been
empowered and taught by CodeHack in Kenya’s six counties. She is a TechWomen
2020-2021 alumnus. TechWomen is a US State Department Bureau of Educational and
Cultural Affairs initiative. Being a Mozilla common voice champion, she has mobilized a community of over 300 women and youth to contribute to the Kiswahili voice
